The 8 Greatest Rihanna News of 2015

In early October, in an exhibition at the MAMA Gallery in Los Angeles, Rihanna announced her 8th album’s title and cover: ANTI.

“A person opposed to a particular policy, activity or idea.

In her collaboration with Roy Nachum, Rihanna has changed the history of album art. By continuing to follow her instincts, her work strives to make an impact by doing the very antithesis of what the public expects.”

But before that…

In January we were all taken by surprise when she released “FourFiveSeconds” feat. Paul McCartney and Kanye West. The track reached No. 1 on iTunes in over 40 countries and peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. As for the music video, RiRi said:

“Kanye came up with the idea of doing just some real street, denim, all-American-type look. Denim never goes out of style; it’s classic, it’s iconic, just like the fucking Beatles.”

Rihanna, McCartney and West performed “FourFiveSeconds” for the first time at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards; the performance received highly positive reviews.

Then…bang! “Bitch Better Have My Money”, one of 2015’s anthems, came to make sure everyone would be talking about RiRi. The track peaked at No. 15 on the Hot 100, Ri performed the song at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and at SNL. Do we even need to mention its epic music video that made headlines all over the world?

Rihanna released “American Oxygen”, which she performed at the 2015 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament and SNL; its music video was released exclusively on TIDAL.

In celebration of 420, Rihanna shared an interlude from ANTI that she calls “James Joint”.

Let’s not forget about the “Home” soundtrack! Rihanna, the executive producer, performed and wrote “Towards the Sun”, “As Real as You and Me” and “Dancing in the Dark”.

Rihanna is fashion’s most exciting muse, as Vogue says. And now everybody wants a piece of her: in 2015, Rihanna partnered up with PUMA, Dior and Stance.

As Rihanna’s first introduction as PUMA Women’s Creative Director, her PUMA Creeper remixed the iconic PUMA Suede with a little bit punk and a little bit rebel. If you’re not lucky enough to find the Creeper on, you need to search for it at select stores. Together with Travis Scott, Rihanna was photographed for the campaign.

The house of Dior unveiled the fourth installment in the Secret Garden saga. Directed by Steven Klein, the film featured Rihanna in the gardens and palace of Versailles. This made Rihanna the first black woman to be the face of Dior.

Named contributing creative director as part of a three-year deal, Rihanna is designing socks for Stance. Her fall and holiday collections are available now at

“I’ve had a great relationship with Stance for a long time and ‎I am happy to be working with them on such a fun and creative project.”

Rihanna is the 1 face guaranteed to sell magazines. These are the highlights of 2015:

“Home”, an animated film produced by DreamWorks Animation, was released in March 2015. Rihanna played the lead role, voicing character Tip.

Together with Jim Parsons and Steven Martin, Rihanna heavily promoted the film before its premiere. She attended a special screening in Texas and took her niece Majesty to the purple carpet in Los Angeles. “Home” reportedly grossed $386 million worldwide.

The film is available now on iTunes, Amazon and BestBuy. More on its official website.

Rihanna visited Brazil once again and was booked for a huge stadium for her first visit in Chile.

Both concerts in Rio de Janeiro and Santiago were breathtaking. I’ve had the chance to be there and I can easily say that the Rock in Rio the best Rihanna show I’ve ever attended…or even watched online:

FYI: Tickets for her ANTI World Tour are available now. DON’T miss the chance to see Rihanna live.

In July, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that Rihanna surpassed more than 100 million Gold & Platinum song certifications, elevating her to number one on RIAA’s list of artists with the most Digital Single Awards and making her the first and only artist to surpass RIAA’s 100 million cumulative singles award threshold.

In addition to her 100 million cumulative song honors, Rihanna’s career album awards total 7.5 million sold in the United States, including a 2x multi-Platinum for “Good Girl Gone Bad” (2007), five Platinum albums for “A Girl Like Me” (2006), “Rated R” (2009), “Loud” (2010), “Talk That Talk” (2011) and “Unapologetic” (2012) plus Gold for “Music Of The Sun” (2005).

Bonus: earlier this month, Spotify revealed its annual year in music rankings, with Rihanna being the most streamed female artist in the world on the platform in 2015, with over 1 billion streams and 57 million listeners.

This year, Rihanna won her 8th Grammy Award! This time for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for the 2014 hit single “The Monster”. The award was announced during the show’s pre-telecast. Rihanna later performed “FourFiveSeconds” with Kanye West and Paul McCartney.

Although she did not attend the awards show, RiRi won the Best Female award at the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards, which took place in Milan in October.

Rihanna showed up at the 2015 BET Awards in Los Angeles to introduce the trailer to her “Bitch Better Have My Money” music  video. Ri didn’t walk the red carpet.

Rihanna performed “Bitch Better Have My Money” for the first time at the iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Bonus: the MET Gala wasn’t really an awards show, but all eyes were on Rihanna as she walked the red carpet in a huge imperial yellow, fur-trimmed cape that was embroidered with scrolls and scrolls and scrolls of flora (and a headdress!).

“I’m so in love with this dress, but the train is insane! I can’t really walk in it without any help. But it’s so worth it. I love this dress so much! It’s Chinese couture and it’s made by Guo Pei. It’s handmade by one Chinese woman and it took her two years to make. I found it online. I was researching Chinese couture on the Internet and I found it,” she said.

The second annual Diamond Ball to benefit the Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) took place earlier this month with host Kevin Hart and a special performance by Lionel Richie. The CLF was founded in 2012 by Rihanna to honor her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite. The CLF works to improve the quality of life for communities globally in the areas of health, education, arts and culture. Rihanna’s inspiring history of service to others continues in CLF’s mission, programs and partnerships.

Rihanna helped raise over $3 million at the event.

“The energy, the crowd, the vibe. I love everything about it! It’s overwhelming to see so many of the people that I care about come together to support a cause that is near and dear to my heart.”
